When your Hermes library has hundreds of skills, the problem is not writing another one. It is finding the right one while you are working. The latest Hermes Skill Deck update puts a search bar in the center of the dashboard. Press Command K, type what you need, and open the matching skill instead of digging through folders.
In the video below, I walk through the search update and the other changes that make a large skill library easier to navigate.
Find a skill from the dashboard
The search field is now front and center, rather than tucked away in a header. Use Command K to activate it, enter a keyword such as “YouTube,” and select a result. Search covers your skills and folders, so you do not need to remember the exact name or which folder holds it. The video starts the live search demonstration at 0:18.
You can also open a profile and search within that profile’s skills. That is useful when you already know the kind of work you are doing, such as writing or video production, but still need to find the specific workflow. I show that at 1:03.
See the instructions, then open the source file
After you choose a result, the skill detail view shows the instructions, related skills, quick actions, and the local file path. If you need to change a skill, use Open in Finder to get to its file. The app is a skill viewer today, not a full editor: editing inside the Skill Deck itself is still being built. The 1:42 demonstration shows the current workflow without pretending the unfinished editor is ready.
Keep frequently used skills close
Search is the fastest route when you know a keyword. For the skills you use repeatedly, Recent and Favorites cut out the search entirely. The sidebar displays five favorites at a time, and you can drag and drop favorites to put your top five first. The walkthrough covers this starting at 2:14. You can also decide which menu items appear in the top navigation.
The update includes Finder access buttons, an early light mode, and a built-in terminal with an AI agent that can search your skills in plain English. Light mode still needs refinement, and the agent-assisted editing features are in progress. The practical result today is simpler: find a skill, read it, and jump to the file when you need to edit it.
